Modeler draws SysML v2 models as diagrams in a diagram panel, scoped to a single element, a whole file, or a view. The Modeler CLI renders elements and views on the command line. Both use the Syside Diagram Engine, so a diagram looks the same wherever it is rendered.

A view is the reproducible option. It is a SysML view usage naming the elements a diagram shows and how to draw them, written in the model rather than picked in the editor, so it travels with the model and a pipeline can regenerate the same picture from it.

  • Use diagram panels - work with a rendered diagram, whether it came from an element, a file or a view: the panel toolbar, the diagram type and layout pickers, and saving a diagram to disk

  • Select what a diagram shows - expose and filter, the two statements that decide which elements a view’s diagram draws

  • Configure diagram views - the kind of diagram a view produces, and the attributes that set its depth, layout and output file
