Which tool does what?

Choosing between the Syside tools is mostly a question of where you want to work: in your editor as you type, in views generated from your models, or from a Python script.

The three tools

Syside Editor

The free starting point: SysML v2 support inside VS Code, with validation, navigation and completion as you type. If you have Modeler, you already have everything Editor offers.

Syside Modeler

Everything Editor does, plus the views beyond the text: diagrams, grid views and more, generated from your models rather than drawn by hand. The same license also covers Modeler CLI, installed separately, which runs the same checks and diagram generation from a terminal.

Syside Automator

A Python library: scripts read, edit and check models, and generate documents and data straight from the source. Anything a script does once, a pipeline can repeat on every change.

Because

Learn SysML v2 or do lightweight editing

Editor

It is free with no setup, and validates .sysml files as you type.

Interact visually with your textual models

Modeler

Diagrams are generated from the text with automatic layout, explored interactively in VS Code, and exported as PNG, SVG or PDF.

Inspect and edit your model in a spreadsheet-style view

Modeler

Table and matrix views with editable cells write back to the source, and the view definitions are SysML v2, versioned with your models.

Validate models and generate diagrams in CI/CD

Modeler CLI

It validates, formats and draws from the terminal, with no editor attached, built for containers; SysML v2 diagram coverage shows every supported kind.

Automate model analysis with Python

Automator

A typed Python API covers a model end to end, for checks, transformations, reports and custom integrations.

Check your requirements actually hold

Automator’s Solver Labs

The Solver checks a condition across every interpretation of a model, and hands you a counterexample when it fails.

Import requirements from Codebeamer, DOORS, or Polarion

Automator’s ReqIF tools Labs

Imports of ReqIF keep attributes, relationships and documentation, and export back; any ReqIF-compliant tool works.

The tools combine: Modeler’s diagrams carry a design review while Automator scripts the report behind it, and one pipeline can run Automator transformations and Modeler CLI diagram generation back to back.
